Kirsty and Greg

Speaking of Weddings, i was lucky enough to assist Kellie at Kirsty and Greg Milliner's June wedding at Tondoon Botanic Gardens. Oh my god, if there's ever a wedding you want to shoot, it was this one. Kirsty and Greg were more in love than I can ever imagine and they made our day a breeze. Just about every frame of these guys was adorable and we were really thrilled to be a part of their precious day. Have a look through the next sequence of pics and you will see why we were delighted with the end result!

The little girls were all smiles all day!

And the bigger girls were excited too.

Little girls became little princesses.

Kirsty and Greg were a delight to photograph.

How sweet.

One of my absolute fav's!

Kirsty and Greg didn't need alot of convincing to show us their romantic side.

The Tondoon Botanic Gardens is the ideal location for wedding pics.

Thanks Kirsty and Greg for making our job a dream!

Spring i-do's

Spring has most certainly sprung and its that time again when couples all over the region say those two little words..."i do". Yep its wedding season and Kellie and I will be busily snapping couples in love from the pristine beaches of Heron Island to the sugar cane country of Bundaberg and many places in between. It's going to be non-stop up until Christmas for us as we snap and edit our little hearts out. The opportunity to shoot weddings in various locations is exciting and gives us the chance to produce unique images and brings fresh ideas to our minds. I've had the opportunity to witness many lovely exchanges of vows assisting Kellie on weddings over the past 12 months. June was my turn to go it alone, my first wedding without the security blanket so to speak. While I had the assistance of the lovely Gina, shooting and directing a wedding for the first time can be a little daunting. But Gina and I worked together and ended up with a whole bunch of lovely pics of Anna and Chris. The couple had a beautiful garden ceremony at Spinnaker Park. Here's some of my favourites from the day.

Jack

Sorry guys, my last post was mostly camera talk and totally nerdy, it's Friday arvo, at least give me that! On the other hand, this little guy was a delight to shoot. My first Kids Club sitting and first proper shoot under Kellie Blinco Photography was always going to be a little nerve racking. Armed with the Canon I breifly knew how to operate off we went to meet little Jack. At first he was a little unsure about having two strange people pointing a camera in his direction but once he was left to his own devices he was a little champion to work with. We ran around the gardens capturing Jack in a natural environment which allowed us to come away with some really lovely lifestyle portraits. Here are some of my favourites for you to view...

P.S. It feels quite creepy typing this blog knowing that I have only one follower! Bahahaha! If there is one thing I am great at it's rambling on...i knew once i started i wouldn't be able to stop. Is there such a thing as a professional blogger?

Nikon vs Canon

Ok...I must admit the first digital slr I picked up was a Nikon so from the very beginning i was swayed to think that was the only way to go. I did most of my shooting with a Nikon D300 and a bunch of different lenses. It's the age old photography debate but I had no reason to follow the Nikon road other than the fact that I had never used anything else. My good friend and now boss man Kellie Blinco was a loyal Canon fan through and through so when I made the move to Kellie Blinco Photography, I said goodbye to the old Nikon and embraced the world of Canon. During my first week at the studio we went out for a trial run which for me was the ultimate test. Even though I had a couple of years shooting for a newspaper under my belt I swear on this day it felt like I had gone back to pre-school. To me the Canon 5D felt completely back to front to the Nikon I had grown to love. So to cut a long story short, something as small as changing the brand of camera has been one of the biggest challenges for me so far. After a huge amount of begging and pleading, I am now the proud owner of a Canon 5D MarkII and am slowly starting to get the swing of things. Anyway, here are some pics from my first test run with a Canon. Thanks to the help of boss man's CS4 skills, these were a couple of the pics that I was pretty happy with.

sam-i-am...

So...i made it to the blog and am officially starting this journey into the depths of blogsville. Bare with me if you will as I navigate my way around and get used to the idea of ranting about life and all things photography to you all. Sam is my name and I am a photographer working alongside Kellie Blinco in and around the Gladstone region. On any given day you can find me in weird and wonderful locations doing what we photography folk do best...capturing unique images and finding new ways to challenge our minds and abilities. Working for Kellie Blinco Photography has opened up many new and exciting ventures for me as a photographer and the opportunity has provided me with the chance to learn new skills and develop my career in the industry I always wanted to be a part of. I made my break into the media world when I started working for a daily newspaper as a cadet reporter. With my passion for photography constantly niggling on my mind it wasn't long before I was given the opportunity to develop as a press photographer. Shooting for a newspaper has it's definite up's and down's but all in all the chance to wake up everyday and play with a camera for a living was pretty unreal, not to mention the characters I got to meet along the way. So, as this blog goes on...and on...and on...I aim to share some of my favourite moments/photographs and take you along for the ride that is sure to be alot of fun!
